Ever since the beginning of the school year we have been working with zines. We used it to create our classroom norms and for our power within reading series. It wasn’t too hard to understand how to create one, it was more tedious having to line all the pages up, make it the right sie, put it into adobe illustrator. There was definitely a lot of first times for this project but, with help from our community members we all helped each other out. I found it extremely helpful when The Museum of Contemporary art came to critique our first zine. We received critique from Akiko and she suggested a lot of what is now our final zine. Like the color progression, the front cover, etc. Our group decided to take a big risk in making a mini zine for the first time. This was a little bit more challenging to figure out since no one in our team was familiar with making one. We decided to make a mini zine in the first place because we wanted to incorporate a our condensed essays in a way that wouldn’t change the flow of our zine. I am now really familiar with making big size zines, and mini zines.
In the beginning I remember we sat down and just talked over each of our topics creating certain connections. We then wrote them down onto a paper creating one big mind map. It was difficult in the beginning trying to find a way consumerism affects the environment without any research but, further into the project everything started to connect more with each other. |
