Chicano Park
Our class took a little field trip to Chicano Park in Barrio Logan to look at the powerful art, and learn about some history of the park: how the people fought for the park and turned it into representation of their history and heritage.
Borderline Cases
We have been researching, reading articles, debating and discussing the topic of unaccompanied minors entering the U.S from the northern triangle: Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. We learned what kind of lifestyle most of the families live, why they are fleeing their country and learned the kind of journey they go through to reach the United States. In this project we focused of 5 essential question.
Reflection
For our project we chose one focus question and created an art piece answering it. I chose the question "Why do people immigrate to other counties?" The way I chose to represent my answer is what I'm most proud of because I wanted to created something that would spread a powerful message. My piece answers the question specifically because of the corrupt governments in Central America. During exhibition I'm very glad that I was able to educate people on this issue and make them aware.
- Why do people immigrate to other countries?
- What are the difficulties immigrating to another country?
- What the difference between acculturation and assimilation?
- What are things necessary or essential to succeed in the United States
- Is there an American Dream and is it for everybody?
