We created mind maps to show how much we have learned over the past semester. Here is my final mind map of the circulatory system which includes its function, homeostasis, health, maintenance, disease, and different organs involving it.
How will you take care of your power?
A very important organ involving the circulatory system and that is very crucial part of homeostasis is the heart. I have learned that unhealthy life choices, or genetics can increase you chances in getting an illness or disease which can throw off the homeostasis because the organ won't be able to function normally.
More specifically in my TPW story I talk about the disease arteriosclerosis which is a blockage or a clog in the arteries that can lead to a heart attack or stroke. This is caused by plaque build up that is caused from eating unhealthy. I make a connection that the plaque in my heart is expectation from everyone for me to go far and succeed in my sports which causes pressure. This relates because the clogged arteries causes the heart to pump harder which results in high blood pressure.
What I am doing to stay healthy is keeping a healthy diet so that I could prevent as much of the plaque build up that I can. Since I already am going to a diet this upcoming wrestling season I will chose foods that are very encouraged in keeping a healthy heart, like green vegetables. Also I am working on my mentality this year so that the pressure and expectation don't get to me so that I could actually enjoy the sport without feeling that weight on my shoulders.
